At Gorilla we love anyone with a can-do attitude… so when artist Jason deCaires Taylor said he was going to create 400 sculptures and make the World’s largest underwater exhibition, and then did it… we just had to share this with you all. His latest project, The Silent Evolution, is his most ambitious to date. It is a “collection of over 400 life-size figurative works forming a timeline of the changes both visually and socially over the past centuries.”(www.underwatersculpture.com) Check out these photos and just imagine what it would be like to dive in to this gallery… eerie but exceptionally beautiful.

Jason deCaires Taylor is the founder and Artistic Director of the Museo Subacuático del Arte (MUSA) in Cancun, Mexico. The waters surrounding Cancun, Isla Mujeres and Punta Nizuc are home to the 400 sculptures of The Silent Evolution, which are in turn part of a larger underwater museum. At the moment the museum comprises of 4 installations; The Garden of Hope, The Dream Collector, Man on Fire and The Silent Evolution (photos above) all by Jason deCaires Taylor. Next year a third stage to the museum will start, which will involve the commissioning of local and international artists to contribute to the marine museum.
