I’ll be honest, not a whole lot of what we do on a day to day basis qualifies as work according to most people’s definition of the term. Hours spent trawling through websites, blogs, tweets and videos is gruelling.
You gotta kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince. At least that’s what Barry keeps telling me. I just avert eye contact, don’t reply and pray furiously he’s not gonna tell me about the rest of his Friday night. But he has a point.
There’s a lot of seemingly random stuff going on to get that spark of brilliance. Case in point is the Fox SA road trip we’re on with their wake team. Hours and hours of driving, walking and standing around, just to get a few precious moments of footage. Throw in the bad road food, cramped space and near guaranteed flatulence and it’s almost too much to bear.
Almost. Because we’re committed to doing time in the trenches to get the job done. Doesn’t matter if we need to attend parties when we’re tired, play poker in tournaments we don’t want to enter or stay in hotel rooms instead of going home to reruns of The New Adventures of Old Christine.
It may not sound like work but that don’t make it easy. Keep track of our hard labor on Fox‘s site.
