Yesterday Gorilla had the pleasure of shooting the photographs for the next Lee Jeans campaign. Our tame photographer Barry Tuck worked his magic with 3 of the Hairlip guys, the uber cool 80’s cover band,  and two gorgeous models, Alex and Keith. We shot at a few locations around Durban; the Train Station, a run down building in town, King Club and Zulu Jazz Lounge. The aim was to get a mixture of cool settings for our guys and girls to rock out in wearing their Lee outifts, and they didn’t disappoint. The campaign is looking to be awesome… fun, fresh, with the laid back, easy cool that the Lee Jeans brand embodies.

The day started bright and early at Lee HQ, where we meet the models, HairLip, Kendyl the make up and hair stylist, and Clair Mead the Marketing Manager. After some coffee to get the creative juices flowing and the brains ticking, we headed to the Durban Train Station, our first location.  We got a few funny glances from onlookers bustling past our lights and umbrellas, but the guys and girls were awesome and worked their magic in this urban setting. Our second location was a spur of the moment decision, which turned out to be a stroke of genius (well done Keith), well you know what they say about the best laid plans… The location was incredible, rubble everywhere, old wooden crates, a beautiful stone archway and beaten wooden doors; this was a stunning backdrop to showcase the more Urban pieces Lee has to offer. As Barry took his shots we were treated to an impromptu jamming session from HairLip. Even in the middle of a derelict building this guys know how to rock!

After lunch at Spiga, where we met up with Bear Thryllz himself, we went to our final two locations. We started in the King Club, where Barry and the models made full use of the moody lighting, impressive bay windows and retro metallic gold couches. To wrap up the day, we descended in to the Zulu Jazz Lounge where Hairlip could really show us what they are all about. Candice, Gareth and Dave did what they do best and performed for us as Barry took his shots. These two venues suited the more Rock/Punk items from the Lee line perfectly.

Lee Jeans is a company with heritage and history, so it was a great experience to work with such an iconic, established brand. Thanks again to everyone involved, the day was a blast and the shots rock!
